PM Modi Urges Collective Action to Tackle Global Economic Challenges in Hyderabad Speech

Hyderabad, May 10 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called upon every Indian to join hands in safeguarding the nation’s economy amid global disruptions, supply chain breakdowns, and price surges triggered by international conflicts. Addressing a public gathering here, he stressed that true patriotism extends beyond battlefield sacrifices-it’s about responsible living and duty fulfilment during tough times.

The Prime Minister outlined practical steps to curb petrol and diesel use, urging citizens to opt for metros and public transport where available, embrace car-pooling for private vehicle trips, prioritise railways for goods movement, and accelerate electric vehicle adoption.

In the national interest, Modi advocated work-from-home setups, online conferences, and virtual meetings to reduce fuel demand. To preserve foreign exchange reserves, he appealed to avoid non-essential foreign travel, overseas vacations, and destination weddings. Instead, he promoted domestic tourism and “Made-in-India” celebrations. Modi also requested a one-year pause on non-essential gold purchases to ease forex pressures, while encouraging priority for locally made products like shoes, bags, and daily accessories.

Highlighting the dual benefits for health and the economy, he asked families to cut their edible oil consumption. Turning to farmers, the PM urged halving chemical fertiliser use, shifting to natural farming for soil health, and reducing import reliance. He further pushed for solar-powered irrigation pumps over diesel ones in agriculture.

Modi’s message resonated as a clarion call for self-reliance, blending economic prudence with personal responsibility to navigate global headwinds.
