Chaos Erupts in Lok Sabha Over Rahul Gandhi's China Incursion Claims: 8 Opposition MPs Suspended, House Adjourned

New Delhi, February 3 (TNA) Pandemonium gripped the Lok Sabha on Tuesday during the Budget Session as heated exchanges between Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Treasury benches over alleged Chinese incursions led to multiple adjournments and the suspension of eight Opposition MPs for the remainder of the session.

The ruckus peaked when Gandhi quoted from an "unpublished" book by former Army chief Gen M M Naravane on the 2020 Galwan standoff, prompting protests and paper-throwing towards the Chair.

Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House several times, first at 11:08 AM until noon, reconvening briefly for committee motions before chaos resumed after 3 PM. The suspensions targeted MPs accused of unruly conduct, including hurling papers, amid unrelenting sloganeering. Gandhi protested the actions, escalating the standoff.

The disruptions stalled key Budget discussions, with the House adjourned till 11 AM on Wednesday. Opposition demands a government statement on border issues, while the BJP accused them of politicising security. Similar tensions marked Rajya Sabha proceedings.

The eight Opposition MPs suspended from Lok Sabha on February 3, 2026, for unruly conduct—including throwing papers at the Chair during ruckus over Rahul Gandhi's remarks—are all Congress members except one CPI(M): Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, Manickam Tagore, Gurjeet Singh Aujla (or Gurdeep Singh Aujla), Hibi Eden, C. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Prashant Yadaorao Padole (or Prashant Padole), S. Venkatesan (CPI-M), and Dean Kuriakose.
