Indian Embassy In China Advises Students To Stay In Touch With Their Respective Education Institutions

BEIJING || Indian Embassy in China has advised the Indian students to remain in touch with their respective universities and colleges in China for their return to resume their studies as China has still not allowed the return of foreign students.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the Indian mission said that Ministry of Education in China has conveyed their stand in this regard and at present, foreign students in China cannot enter the country for the time being.

The Chinese ministry of education suggested in its response that Indian students should maintain close contact with relevant colleges and universities and arrange to study in China in strict accordance with the suggestions and guidance of the colleges and universities.

Indian Embassy has also advised the students to keep checking the websites of the Indian Embassy in China and those of Consulates for latest information regarding their return to China.

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, China restricted the entry of foreigners. It later allowed entry of some category of foreigners, but foreign students have not been allowed yet.

Before the Covid-19 outbreak, over 23,000 students from India studied in China, pursuing mainly medicine and management courses. Indians were the fourth-largest group among foreign students in China.

Covid-19 derailed the plans of many Indians to study in China and the recent border issues between the two countries may only push China further down as a student destination.
