As Tensions In Iran Rise, India Issues Urgent Advisory for Citizens, Warns Against Crossing Land Borders

New Delhi, March 16 (TNA) Embassy of India in Tehran has issued a fresh advisory urging all Indian nationals currently in Iran not to approach or attempt to cross any land borders without prior coordination with the embassy. The advisory, released on March 16, reiterates an earlier notice issued on March 9 amid rising regional tensions.

According to the embassy, Indian citizens planning to leave Iran must first contact and coordinate with officials in Tehran. Authorities warned that any uncoordinated attempt to cross land borders could lead to serious logistical and immigration complications.

The embassy emphasised that it remains in constant contact with members of the Indian community in Iran and is arranging coordinated assistance wherever required. However, it cautioned that individuals who leave Iranian territory without prior guidance from the embassy may face significant difficulties, and the mission may not be able to assist once they move outside the country.

Officials have strongly advised Indian nationals to strictly follow embassy instructions, remain connected with official communication channels, and consult the embassy before undertaking any travel plans.

For emergencies or travel-related queries, the embassy has also issued dedicated helpline numbers to support Indian citizens. The advisory comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in the region, prompting governments to closely monitor the safety and movement of their citizens abroad.

Indian nationals in Iran are therefore urged to stay calm, remain vigilant, and maintain regular contact with the embassy for further updates.
