PM Modi To Inaugurate Purvanchal Expressway In Sultanpur On Tuesday

Lucknow, Nov 15 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the 341-km-long Purvanchal Expressway at Sultanpur on Tuesday, a state government official said on Sunday.

100 per cent physical work of the Expressway has been completed and along with eight toilet blocks, an air strip of about 35-km has been built near Sultanpur, in which Indian Air Force (IAF) and other aircrafts would be able to land in an emergency.

The process of setting up industrial corridors at eight places along the Purvanchal Expressway by the state government has also started, the official informed. Special attention has been accorded to the development of the state's infrastructure and Purvanchal Expressway is surely set to be the backbone of the economy of Eastern Uttar Pradesh, he added.

On this expressway, a 32 km long airstrip has also been constructed in Sultanpur district for landing/take-off of Indian Air Force fighter planes in case of emergency, where Hon'ble Prime Minister will inaugurate the expressway. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 22497 crore.

Despite two waves of the Covid pandemic, the Purvanchal Expressway has been completed in a record of 38-months. The Purvanchal Expressway, located on Lucknow-Sultanpur Road at village Karwal Kheri 124 km air strip will be inaugurated by Modi.

Purvanchal Expressway has been constructed by the state government for the development of the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh. The length of this expressway is 341 km, which will benefit Lucknow, Barabanki, Amethi, Ayodhya, Sultanpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur.

This expressway will start from village Chaudsarai, district Lucknow located on Lucknow-Sultanpur road (NH-731) and will end at village Hydaria located on National Highway No. 31, 18 km east of UP-Bihar border. This expressway is 6-lane wide which can be expanded to 8-lane in future.

Purvanchal Expressway was divided into 8 packages for construction. All the eight packages of Purvanchal Expressway Project were done through e-tendering. In this project, the minimum tenders were received at a cost of about 5.19 percent less than the estimated cost, due to which UPEIDA has earned a profit of about Rs.614 crore.
