Lucknow, May 30 (TNA) For the last three years, UP has been setting a record for supplying the maximum power to its 3.50 crore electricity consumers. Three years ago, it used to be Maharashtra or Gujarat, where peak demand was the highest in the country. But in the last three, this situation has changed and now Uttar Pradesh is supplying maximum power and meeting the highest peak demand in the country.

Energy Minister AK Sharma complimented the employees and officers of the electricity department for this continuous achievement. He also added that this situation has emerged in the last three years only.

He dished out figures for this summer, where the gap between Uttar Pradesh and the second-highest supplier of peak-hour electricity, Maharashtra / Gujarat is around 5000 MW. talking of the previous day, i.e. 28 May 2025, the Energy minister of UP said that the peak demand in UP was around 29,000 MW whereas in Maharashtra it was less than 24,000 MW.

Sharma also underlined that earlier, power was not reaching to the consumers because the infrastructure was weak. whereas now, the department has focused on running the power plants at a higher PLF and energising/commissioning new power plants.

He said that we have also focused on strengthening the distribution network, including transformers, poles and wires. He also said that dedicated efforts have been made for the maintenance of the power supply network and this is showing results this summer. Burning of transformers, frequent shutdowns, and regular trippings have been reduced to a historically low level.

In addition to the employees and officers for their dedication and hard work, the Energy minister also thanked Prime Minister Modi for his continuous blessings and guidance and also the leadership of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
