Lucknow, July 18 (TNA) In almost all the indicators of urban governance, particularly cleanliness, which have been published by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, UP has put itself in the front seat. It has not only achieved the prescribed benchmark, but has done better in most cases against the national standards. It surpassed national standards in most cases.

While quoting from the cleanliness survey report. Urban Development Minister A.K. Sharma showed a list of such indicators and gave examples of a few among them. This includes:

  • Verified door-to-door collection is up from 48% to 62%

  • Waste Processing is up from 48 per cent to above 85 per cent

  • Visible Cleanliness is better than Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Goa, etc

Sharma said that this is a new UP, modern UP of modern India, and this is a UP that is moving towards a $1 trillion economy. He also said that the urban areas of UP are ready to contribute heavily to making UP an economically prosperous and powerful state. He further said that Today’s UP believes in quality, UP believes in the highest standards of Urban services and amenities.

This quality upgradation in Urban governance, services, and amenities has been shown in a number of local bodies of all sizes. This is the reason that not only Lucknow, but also Agra, Prayagraj, NOIDA and Gorakhpur, the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) of Uttar Pradesh, have left their mark in the cleanliness survey of 2024–25.

The impact of good governance in the Urban sector in recent years can be seen right up to small ULBs. Many of these ULBs have been recently converted in urban areas. Almost all Municipal Corporations, a number of Nagarpalika Parishads & Nagar Panchayats have improved their ranking in this National survey.

The minister congratulated all the cleanliness workers, the leadership of local bodies, the officials and the people of the concerned urban areas who have contributed to this journey. He also said that this success is due to the inspiration and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the continued support of the Chief Minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath.
