Hyderabad, March 21 (TNA) Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Prakash Raj issued clarifications on Thursday following allegations that they promoted illegal betting and gambling apps through their social media platforms.

In an official statement, Deverakonda’s team emphasized that the actor had signed a contract with a company solely as a brand ambassador for skill-based games. His endorsements, the statement clarified, were strictly limited to regions where such games are legally permitted.

"This is to inform the public and all concerned parties that Vijay Deverakonda has officially entered into a contract with a company solely for the limited purpose of serving as a brand ambassador for skill-based games. His endorsement was strictly confined to regions and territories where online skill-based games are legally permitted," the statement read.

The statement further clarified that skill-based games, including online games such as rummy, have been repeatedly recognized by the Supreme Court of India as distinct from gambling. The court has upheld that such games rely on skill rather than chance, making them legally permissible.
