PM Modi Personally Monitoring Situation After WHO Declares Mpox A Public Health Emergency
New Delhi, August 19 (TNA) Ever since the World Health Organisation (WHO) listed Mpox as a public health emergency, the government of India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is actively monitoring the situation, an official said on Monday.
Dr P.K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting to review the preparedness of the country in the wake of the deadly outbreak of the Mpox virus in the South African continent.
The meeting, an official informed, emphasized the need for enhanced surveillance to ensure the prompt detection of Mpox cases. Authorities have been advised to maintain testing labs in a state of readiness. It was also decided that an awareness campaign to be taken up regarding preventive public health measures against the disease.
