Noted Film Maker And Son Of Legendary Ramanand Sagar, Prem Sagar Dies At 84
Mumbai, August 31 (TNA) Noted filmmaker, cinematographer, and son of legendary director Ramanand Sagar, Prem Sagar, passed away on Sunday in Mumbai at the age of 84. He had been unwell for some time and breathed his last at home after being discharged from Breach Candy Hospital.
An FTII gold medalist, Prem Sagar began his career as a cinematographer on Ramanand Sagar’s film ‘Lalkar’ (1970), going on to shape the visual identity of numerous successful films such as ‘Charas,’ ‘Jalte Badan,’ and ‘Prem Bandhan,’ as well as popular television shows.
He directed India’s first fantasy TV serial, ‘Vikram aur Betaal’ and was closely involved with iconic series like ‘Ramayan’, ‘Shri Krishna’, ‘Sai Baba’, and several mythological productions that became staples of Indian television.
Widely respected for his technical expertise and creativity, Prem Sagar leaves behind a rich legacy in Indian cinema and television, carried forward by his son, producer Shiv Sagar. His funeral was held in Mumbai on August 30
