Lucknow Court Reserves Verdict in Rahul Gandhi British Citizenship Case

1 min read

Lucknow, January 15 (TNA) The special MP-MLA court in Lucknow has concluded hearings in the high-profile British citizenship case against Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, reserving its judgment for January 28.

Special Judge and Third Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Alok Verma heard all arguments before keeping the final decision in a sealed envelope. The case, originally filed in Raebareli’s special MP-MLA court, was transferred to Lucknow on orders from the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench.

Post-transfer, it was re-registered as Criminal Miscellaneous Case No. 31/2026. The allegations, stemming from claims of dual nationality, have drawn intense political scrutiny amid Gandhi’s rising opposition role. Both sides presented closing submissions today, marking a key milestone in the protracted legal battle.
