Editors Guild Of India Seeks Separate Court-Monitored Probe In Death Of Scribe In Lakhimpur Kheri Violence

New Delhi, Oct 6 (TNA) The Editors Guild of India (EGI) has called the death of TV journalist Raman Kashyap in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence shocking and has sought a separate probe into it.

A special investigation team should be constituted under the supervision of the court to find out the circumstances under which he die, the journalist body has demanded.

The Guild said in a statement that various types of information are coming in the media about Kashyap's death. A report claimed that he died of bullet injuries.

Kashyap was reporting on the day of the incident and said that the probe should be under the supervision of the court so that the circumstances of the death can be ascertained.

Efforts should be made to obtain and use their camera footage to bring to the fore the sequence of events, the Guild said further.

Eight people died in the violence that broke out in Lakhipur Kheri on Sunday. The post-mortem of all these was done on Monday, in the report of which it has been found that some have died due to dragging and some have been beaten up with sticks.
