Delhi-NCR Wakes Up To Heavy Rains, Strong Winds

New Delhi, May 2 (TNA) The national capital and the neighbouring national capital region (NCR) on Friday woke up to heavy rains with strong winds. The weather department had predicted rains amid thunderstorms. The continuous heavy rain has flooded many streets of Delhi.

The drizzle in Delhi started after 3 am. The morning pitter-patter started in ITO, Mandi House and some areas of central Delhi. After this, the winds intensified and it started raining heavily with thunderstorms amid darkness.

Due to rain and strong winds, a tin roof structure collapsed at Terminal 3 of Delhi Airport. There are also reports of many trees falling in Delhi and surrounding areas. The Meteorological Department says that there is a possibility of strong thunderstorms with a speed of 70-80 kmph in Delhi during the next 2 hours.

According to the Meteorological Department, thunderstorms and rain are expected with a break of one to two days from May 1 to May 7. Due to this, the temperature is likely to reach 34 degrees. Due to the effect of the western disturbance, there will be a change in the weather from the night of 1 May to the morning of 04 May, there will be thunderstorms and cloudburst activities in the evening on 5 and 6 May. Earlier, the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorms from 1 to 2 May.
