Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Pays Tribute To Kargil War Heroes On Kargil Vijay Diwas

New Delhi, July 26 (TNA) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited the Kargil War Memorial on Wednesday to honor the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1999 India-Pakistan war. As the chief guest, Singh laid a wreath at the memorial and paid his respects at the tombstones dedicated to the fallen soldiers. He expressed his admiration for those brave sons who put the nation first and made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the motherland.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid heartfelt tributes on Twitter, recognizing the extraordinary valor displayed by India's warriors during the Kargil conflict. Kargil Vijay Diwas serves as a reminder of India's triumph over Pakistan in the war.

The commemoration event at Lamochen, Drass, included a poignant audio-visual presentation highlighting the battles and the immense bravery of the jawans during the conflict. The military band played somber tunes, adding to the solemn atmosphere as soldiers assembled to mark the occasion.

The Army Chief, Navy Chief, and Chief of Defence Staff also honored the fallen soldiers by laying wreaths at the Kargil War Memorial.

The Kargil War of 1999 saw the Indian Army fiercely counterassault the Pakistani forces that had stealthily captured significant heights in Ladakh. Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed as a tribute to India's victory over Pakistan in the conflict.
