Bhoot Bangla Roars at Box Office with ₹15.75 Cr Net Opening Day Haul
Mumbai, April 19 (TNA) Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan’s long-awaited horror-comedy Bhoot Bangla stormed to a robust opening at the Indian box office, netting ₹15.75 crore on Day 1 (including ₹3.50 crore from Thursday paid previews), surpassing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’s ₹14.50 crore debut amid positive word-of-mouth on its humour.
Friday proper contributed ₹12.25 crore net (₹18.90 crore gross including previews), with strong advance sales of over 1.3 lakh tickets across 12,000+ shows, pushing worldwide gross to ₹23.90-₹28.70 crore including ₹9.50 crore overseas.
The Priyadarshan-Akshay reunion after 14 years, featuring Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Tabu, benefited from mixed-positive reviews praising comedy but noting a weaker second half, positioning it as Priyadarshan’s biggest opener ever ahead of Khatta Meetha (₹7 cr).
Day 2 estimates show a dip to ₹1.03 crore early net, totalling ₹17.03 crore India net amid weekend potential, with producers already recovering costs via OTT, TV, and music rights sales. Trade experts eye ₹120-150 crore for hit status against an estimated ₹100-120 crore budget, as it outpaces flops like Sky Force.
