Bangkok, October 25 (TNA) Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand, passed away peacefully on Friday night at the age of 93, the Bureau of the Royal Household announced early Saturday.

According to the official statement, Queen Sirikit had been under continuous medical care at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital in Bangkok since 2019.

The Queen Mother was being treated for multiple health conditions when she developed a bloodstream infection on October 17, 2025. Despite intensive efforts from her medical team, she passed away at 9:21 p.m. on October 24.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has issued a royal command for funeral arrangements to be held with the highest honours in accordance with royal tradition. Her Majesty’s body will lie in state at Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall within Bangkok’s Grand Palace, allowing members of the public to pay their respects starting October 26.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul convened a special Cabinet meeting to express national condolences, lauding Queen Sirikit as a symbol of compassion, grace, and dedication to the welfare of the Thai people. Flags across Thailand will fly at half-mast for one month, and entertainment venues have been asked to suspend or reduce public festivities for 30 days.

Born on August 12, 1932, Queen Sirikit was the beloved consort of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX) and mother of the reigning King Rama X. She was widely admired for her charitable work, cultural patronage, and enduring role as a national matriarch who helped shape Thailand’s modern identity.
