Six-Year-Old Indian-Origin Girl Brutally Attacked in Racist Assault in Ireland Waterford
New Delhi, August 7 (TNA) A six-year-old girl of Indian descent, Nia Naveen, was viciously attacked by a gang of children aged 12 to 14 in a racist incident outside her home in southeast Ireland. The assailants hurled racial slurs, calling her "dirty" and demanding she "go back to India," while physically assaulting her.
The gang punched Nia in the face, struck her private parts with a bicycle, punched her neck, and twisted her hair, according to her mother, Anupa Achuthan, who spoke to the Irish Mirror.
Anupa, a nurse who has lived in Ireland for eight years and recently gained Irish citizenship, said the family moved to their Waterford home in January. On Monday evening, Nia was playing outside when the attack occurred. Anupa briefly stepped inside to tend to her 10-month-old son, leaving Nia supervised with friends.
Within minutes, Nia returned, visibly upset. The incident has shocked the community, raising concerns about rising racism. The family, originally from Kottayam, Kerala, is seeking justice as authorities investigate the appalling attack on the Irish-born child.
