Foreign Ministers Of The Confederation Of Sahel States Call On Moroccan King, Appreciate His Leadership
Rabat, May 1 (TNA) Karamoko Jean Marie Traore, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabé Abroad of Burkina Faso; Abdoulaye DIOP, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Mali; and BAKARY Yaou Sangaré, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad of the Republic of Niger, had the privilege of being received in audience, on 28 April 2025, by Mohammed VI, King of Morocco.
The delegation, led by Abdoulaye DIOP, whose Head of State is President of the AES Confederation, first conveyed to the Sovereign messages of fraternity and friendship from Their Excellencies General Assimi GOITA, President of the Transition, Head of State of the Republic of Mali, President of the AES Confederation; Captain Ibrahim TRAORE, President of Faso, Head of State; and General Abdourahamane TIANI, President of the Republic of Niger, Head of State.
The delegation expressed high appreciation to the College of Heads of State of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) for the Kingdom of Morocco's objective and constructive approach to the political situation of the countries of the AES Confederation, particularly Morocco's respectful stance based on non-interference in their countries' internal affairs.
The Foreign Ministers of the ESA Confederation took the opportunity to inform King Mohammed VI of the progress made and the prospects for the Confederation in the areas of diplomacy, development defence and security.
The Ministers took this opportunity to express the gratitude of the Heads of State of the AES Confederation for the constancy of Morocco's positive approach within the African Union, advocating the strengthening of dialogue and maintaining constructive engagement.
The Ministers reiterated the ESA Confederation's full support for the Royal Initiative aimed at facilitating their countries' access to the Atlantic Ocean. They stressed that this Initiative is consistent with the vision of the Heads of State of the AES Confederation, who are committed to improving the conditions for the economic development of their countries, in particular access to the Atlantic Ocean, development of their countries, in particular access to the international market.
The Ministers noted with attention the specific messages from King Mohammed VI, addressed to Their Excellencies Army General Assimi GOITA, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE and Army General Abdourahamane TIANI.
They welcomed the renewed readiness of King Mohammed VI to strengthen his country's relations with the Confederation of Sahel States, within the framework of South-South cooperation, of which Morocco is one of the pioneers.
The delegation also took very good note of the enlightened orientations of King Mohammed VI on the Royal Initiative in favour of the Sahel States which, beyond the development of national economies that it will allow in the countries of the region, is part of a dynamic of active solidarity of the Kingdom of Morocco towards brotherly countries with which relations have always been marked by respect, sincere friendship and fruitful cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers expressed their deep gratitude for the audience that His Majesty King Mohammed VI had kindly granted them. They particularly praised the quality of the listening, the consideration and the wise advice that Mohammed VI had given them.
The Ministers also expressed their sincere thanks to King Mohammed VI and the people of Morocco for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to them during their stay.
