Dubai Airport Briefly Shut After Drone Strike Near Terminal Amid Iran Attacks

1 min read

Dubai, March 7 (TNA) Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest for international traffic, suspended operations this morning following a suspected Iranian drone strike near Concourse A, sparking chaos and air raid alerts across the city.

Operations halted around 6:30 AM local time after the explosion, deemed an interception by UAE air defences, caused smoke near terminals, forcing passengers to shelter and diverting incoming flights to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Muscat.

Authorities partially resumed services by afternoon, with Emirates targeting 106 daily flights to 83 destinations (60% of capacity) from DXB and Al Maktoum (DWC), though only confirmed passengers are advised to approach amid restricted UAE airspace.

Flydubai and Etihad operate reduced schedules, while Air Arabia remains suspended until March 9; the incident is tied to broader IRGC strikes on US-linked bases like Al-Dhafra, heightening regional tensions.

Dubai Airports urges real-time checks via emirat.es/flightstatus, with rebooking options extended to April 30 for affected travellers, as #DubaiAirport trended globally amid flight disruptions stranding thousands, including Indians.
