British Prime Minister Calls Upon World Leaders To Unite Against COVID Pandemic

LONDON || The British premier Boris Johnson has called upon the world leaders to join hands agains the menace of the Coronavirus pandemic which has so far claimed millions across the world.

In a pre-recorded speech played out at the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), Johnson, who himself had suffered the dreaded virus a few months back, said that nine months into the pandemic, the very notion of the international community looks tattered.

Johnson also set out a plan for preventing another global pandemic, including a network of zoonotic research labs around the world to identify dangerous pathogens before they leap from animals to humans. He went on to commit, on behalf of the British government, 636 million US dollars through the global COVAX vaccine-procurement pool.

He announced that the UK is boosting its funding for the World Health Organization by 30 per cent to 432 million US dollar for next four years.
