1 min read

Lucknow, February 15 (TNA) In a move to strengthen disaster preparedness, the Uttar Pradesh government has made a specialised online course mandatory for its administrative and police officers. Relief Commissioner Dr Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod has directed all district officials to complete the training module on the Government of India's 'I GOT Karmayogi' portal.

The order applies to a wide range of officers, including District Magistrates, Superintendents of Police, Chief Development Officers, Municipal Commissioners, SDMs, and Tehsildars. The government has mandated that the course be completed within one month of an officer's posting. Newly appointed officials must finish the training within their first month in office.

Upon completion, officers are required to submit their participation certificates to the UP State Disaster Management Authority. The training curriculum covers management plans for both natural and man-made disasters.

It specifically focuses on protocols for rapid response to common state-wide calamities such as floods, lightning, and heatwaves. The module also emphasises risk assessment and the effective use of communication strategies to minimise damage during a crisis.
