Yogi Adityanath Cracks Whip, 'Corrupt' UP Deputy SP Demoted As Inspector

Lucknow, Nov 2 (TNA) In one of the most stringent action taken by the state government against a police officer caught in graft, the Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered demotion, of a circle officer (CO) trapped in a bribery case, to his original position of an inspector.

A video of the corrupt cop - CO City of Rampur, Vidya Kishore Sharma had gone viral, prompting the monk turned politician to crack the whip. Yogi has been vocal in his committment to zero tolerance for cases of corruption against government officials and the latest action is being seen in this light only.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police/CO, accused of taking bribe was investigated by the DIG and was subsequently transferred after preliminary inquiry confirmed the allegation. Later he was suspended as well.
