Voting Begins For The Ist Phase Of Panchayat Polls In Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, April 15 (TNA) Voting for the first phase of Panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh began on a brisk note in 18 districts of the state on Thursday. According to initial information available, the balloting started at 7 am and long queues of exited voters were spotted outside the polling stations.

Heavy security arrangements have been made for the elections. In the first phase, more than 3.33 lakh candidates are in the fray for more than 2.21 lakh posts of Zilla Panchayat member, Kshetra Panchayat member, Gram Pradhan and Gram Panchayat ward member.

In the first phase, voting is going on in Ayodhya, Agra, Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Gorakhpur, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Prayagraj, Bareilly, Bhadohi, Mahoba, Rampur, Rae Bareli, Shravasti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Saharanpur, Hardoi and Hathras districts.
