Veteran Samajwadi Party Leader Ahmed Hasan Dies At 88

Lucknow, February 19 (TNA) Veteran Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, Ahmed Hasan passed away on Saturday after prolonged illness.

The end came at the Lohia Medical Institute in the state capital where he was admitted a few days back. He was a close associate of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and had been a minister in all the governments of Samjwadi Party.

Extremely polite and well meaning, Hasan was an ex Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who enjoyed tremendous goodwill in all parties. He hailed from Ambedkarnagar.

He had been keeping unwell for sometime now and sometime back chief minister Yogi Adityanath had visited him to enquire about his health. He was 88 and had held important portfolios like health and education.
