Veteran Congress Leader Syed Sibte Razi Passes Away

Lucknow, August 20 (TNA) Former governor of Assam Syyed Sibte Razi passed away at the King georges Medical University (KGMU) on Saturday. He was 83. A veteran politician and a long-time Congressman, he served as governor of Assam and Jharkhand in his long career.

He started politicis during his college days. His stint as Jharkhand governor was controversial as one of his decisions was overturned by the president of India. He also was a Rajya Sabha member thrice - 1980-85, 1988-92 and 1992-98. He was also the UPCC general secretary from 1980 to 1984.
