Lucknow, May 18 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Monday approved 12 proposals during its first meeting following the expansion of the state ministry and the allocation of departments to eight new ministers.

The meeting was held at the chief minister’s official residence in Lucknow, where all 12 proposals placed before the cabinet were cleared without any changes. Among the key decisions, the cabinet gave the go‑ahead for the creation of a dedicated Backward Classes Commission (OBC Commission) to oversee and strengthen the reservation framework for Other Backward Classes in the state.

The newly proposed Backward Classes Commission will function as a separate body responsible for the implementation and monitoring of OBC‑related policies, including reservations in education and government jobs. The cabinet also approved a proposal to provide cashless treatment for freedom fighters and their dependents through the public health system, expanding access to quality medical care for independence‑era veterans.

In addition, the meeting cleared land‑allocation memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to facilitate the expansion of metro networks in Lucknow and Agra, paving the way for further development of urban transport infrastructure in these cities.
