UP On Alert Over The Omicron Variant Of Coronavirus

Lucknow, Nov 29 (TNA) With the Omicron variant of the dreaded Coronavirus worrying the world, the Uttar Pradesh government is on high alert, an official said on Monday. While the screening of all passengers returning from foreign countries has been put in place, they will now have to spend ten days in home quarantine now on.

This new measure has been put in place for all passengers coming from South Africa, Hongkong, Brazil, Bangladesh, China, United Kingdom, New Zealand and Belgium. The health department team at the airport will do the necessary screening and conduct and RT-PCR test of all foreign travellers.

They will be tested during their mandatory ten-day home quarantine period and only if the test reports are negative will they be allowed to step out, a health official informed.
