UP Election 2022: Second Phase Of Voting Begins, 2.02 Crore Voters To Decide Fate Of 586 Candidates

1.08 crore men, 94 lakh women and 1,269 third gender voters will exercise their franchise

Lucknow, February 14 (TNA) Voting began at 7 am for 55 seats in the second phase in Uttar Pradesh and all the assembly seats in Uttarakhand and Goa. Votes will be cast from 7 am to 6 pm. In the second phase in UP, 2.02 crore voters will decide the fate of 586 candidates including 69 women.

Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla said that 1.08 crore men, 94 lakh women and 1,269 third gender voters will be exercising their franchise. Voting is being held in Saharanpur, Bijnor, Moradabad, Amroha, Sambhal, Moradabad, Bareilly, Badaun and Shahjahanpur districts in this phase. 12,544 polling stations and 23,404 polling places have been set up in these districts.

Through cameras, its supervision will be done at all the three levels of District Election Officer, Chief Electoral Officer and Election Commission of India.

Guidelines have been given to follow the Covid protocol at the polling stations. Sufficient sanitizers, masks, globs, face masks, thermal scanners, face shields, PPE kits and soap-water have been arranged. Live webcasting of 50 percent polling places will be done during the election.

The Chief Electoral Officer also informed that all Sector Magistrates have additional EVMs. Once the complaint is received, it is replaced within a maximum period of 20 minutes. Even in the first phase of elections, elections were not affected at any center for more than 20 minutes.

A total of 252 Adarsh ​​polling stations have been set up in the second phase. Wheelchairs have been arranged for the differently-abled voters. There will also be volunteers in the districts who will help the voters. 127 pink booths have been set up to attract women for elections.
