UP Chief Minister Seeks State-of-Art Resources To Spruce Up Intelligence Set Up In The State

Lucknow, April 5 (TNA) UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to spruce up Intelligence with more state-of-the-art resources along with Special Task Force (STF) and Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to strengthen internal security.

On Tuesday, Yogi discussed several points in a review meeting with DGP Dr. RK Vishwakarma and Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and other senior officials at his official residence, 5, Kalidas Marg. New proposals have also been sought from the officers of ATS, STF and Intelligence, so that the pace of their modernization can be increased.

There is also a proposal to set up two new field units of STF. However, no final decision has been taken on that yet. At present, apart from the STF Headquarters in Lucknow, there are field units in Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur, Bareilly, Agra, Meerut and Noida. Discussion was also held on increasing the number of policemen in all the three branches. Proposals and budget related to new construction works were also discussed.

The Chief Minister also directed to increase mutual coordination between these units. It is believed that ATS and STF will be provided with state-of-the-art weapons, surveillance, data analysis and state-of-the-art equipment related to forensic investigation. Special DG Law and Order Prashant Kumar, ADG STF Amitabh Yash, ADG ATS Naveen Arora, ADG Intelligence Bhagwan Swaroop and some other senior officers were also present in the meeting.
