Three-Term Former Legislator Beaten To Death In UP's Lakhimpur Kheri

LAKHIMPUR KHERI || Crime continues to spiral in Uttar Pradesh, showing the failing hold of the police. On Sunday, a three-time legislator Nirvendra Kumar Mishra was beaten to death over some land dispute. His son also was critically wounded in the scuffle. Police however said that the former lawmaker suffered a cardiac stroke in the melee.

The incident happened in Trikauliya Padhuwa when two sides - one of the former MLA's side and the other from Pallia came to blows as an altercation blew out of control. He was rushed to the hospital but he sadly died on the way. The late Mishra was three-term MLA from Nighazan Vidhan Sabha seat of Lakhimpur Kheri.

According to information available, the former MLA has land on the main road of Trikaulia Padhuwa bus stand. The matter is under litigation. It is alleged that the opposition side of the MLA, Kishan Kumar Gupta reached the disputed land with hundreds of people on Sunday.

Seeing this, the former MLA also reached the spot with his people. It is alleged that the bullies thrashed the former MLA with punches. Sanjeev Kumar, son of former MLA who ran to save him was also mercilessly beaten.

Several political parties have slammed the growing crime in the state. While Congress targeted the Yogi Adityanath led government for failing law and order, former minister OP Rajbhar questioned if this was the Ram Rajya that the chief minister has been speaking of.
