Three Arrested For Setting Ablaze Journalist In UP's Balrampur

Balrampur, Dec 1 (TNA) The Balrampur police claims to have solved the mysterious death of Balrampur-based journalist Rakesh Singh and his associate Mithlesh Sahu, who died after sustaining burn injuries when the house they were in was set ablaze. Three persons have been arrested, an official said.

Police said the due was set on fire after being doused in alcohol-based sanitiser. The killing was carried out due to an old simmering animosity. The arrested accused have been identified as Lalit Mishra, Shivanand Mishra and Akram Ali.

The cops are looking out for some more people involved in the heinous crime, carried out on the night of November 27 in Kalwari village of the district.

Rakesh had even informed the district administration about fears for his life and also his family with two children but did not receive affective responds.

The incident had created a furore in the media fraternity after which the state government gave a Rs five lakh compensation to the family of the deceased scribe and tasked the local police to crack the case at the earliest and bring the guilty to book.

Rakesh Singh Nirbhik (35) was a reporter with Hindi daily Rashtriya Swaroop. His father and wife had alleged it a pre-planned murder as the scribe developed enmities against some locals because of his media reports.
