Thirty Hours On, Priyanka Gandhi Remains In Police Custody, Congress Cautions BJP Govt Against Illegal Detention

Lucknow, Oct 5 (TNA) With Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi continuing to be in police custody even after 30 hours, party leaders have cautioned the state government to stop the illegal detention of their leader. Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the UP Assembly, Aradhan Mishra ‘Mona’ in a statement said that she “condemns this violation of constitutional rights.”

Mishra, who is also a close aide to Gandhi in matters pertaining to UP, also forewarned the government of Uttar Pradesh that it should try and test the patience of the thousands of Congress workers, well wishers and supporters as it was a aprty of non-violent means and satyagraha.

“I request the state government to immediately set her free or the thousands of Congress supporters will not sit quiet and use all non-violent means of satyagrah to bring the might of this arrogant system to its knees” she stated.

Workers and leaders across the state have also been up in arms since the Lakhimpur Kheri incident flared up and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was arrested in the dark of the night while she was on her way to meet the families of the victim farmers, allegedly mowed down by the son of union minister of state for home Ajay Mishra.
