Thanks To A CCTV Footage And Social Media Campaign, Lucknow Girl Who Slapped Cab Driver Now Booked By Police

Lucknow, August 2 (TNA) Thank to a CCTV footage and the sustained campaign by people across the country on the social media - #ArrestLucknowGirl, the girl who bashed up a hapless cab driver and his brother mercilessly at the Avadh crossing in Krishnanagar area of the sate capital, has been booked under various sections of the Indian penal Code (IPC).

The CCTV footage shows that the girl was wrong in accusing the cab driver of trying to run her over. The footage clearly shows that while the girl is on the zebra crossing, the cab driver stops his cab at a distance since it as a red light. He says he was returning from a drop at the airport. Now after public outcry, the police has registered a case against the errant girl now under sections 394, 427.

A viral video of a Lucknow girl continuously slapping a hapless cab diver in middle of a road had created a furore on the social media. Attaching the video lip, in which the girl can be seen slapping the man, at least 22 times, people on Twitter and other social media platforms have condemned the behaviour of the girl and sought her immediate arrest.

#ArrestLucknowGirl was one of the top trending hashtags of the Twitter since last night, with people expressing their solidarity with the man and even going on to question what would have been the reaction of the police and people seen standing around in the video, had this incident happened with a woman?'

In the melee, the phone of the cab driver was damaged and the girl then turn her ire to the side rera view of the car and broke it as well. When another person tried to intervene and pacify the girl he was also slapped. Inspector Krishnanagar, Mahesh Dubey informed that the driver and her brother had been booked for "disrupting public order".

A woman has tweeted: As a woman I'm shocked to witness such blatant and brazen behaviour.

Gender shouldn't be a hindrance here. Interrogate and if required arrest such person regardless of gender. No one has the right to behave with such hatred towards the other person. Unconfirmed reports said that the cab driver had just passed the girl and was overspending.

Rattled that she could have been hurt in the incident, the girl, who was walking in this Area in krishnanagar at Avadh Crossing, stopped the cab driver and started bashing up late night on Friday. The driver, Sadat Ali, resident of Wazirganj, was returning from the airport late night. Traffic cops stopped him for reckless driving and before anyone could understand anything, the girl started raining blows on him.

This has also angered the social media users who say even if the driver was wrong, as said by the police, no one had the right to publicly beat up the man and leave his psyche mauled for a long time. "Whatever be the background to the incident, no body, even if its a girl has the right to take law in her hands" said one Twitter user.
