Swamy Prasad Maurya Resigns As UP Minister, Joins Samajwadi Party

Lucknow, January 11 (TNA) In a big political development in Uttar Pradesh amid electioneering, Swamy Prasad Maurya on Tuesday resigned as the Labour Minister in the Yogi Adityanath government. In his resignation letter addressed to the UP governor, Maurya said he was quitting the post of the minister as he was distressed by the marginalization of the youth, Dalits, poor and the oppressed in the present government.

He has since joined the Samajwadi Party.He also mentioned that he had joined the ruling BJP in adverse conditions and against the idieaologies that he had been in his political career but was sad to say that small, micro and middle grade traders were being completely ignored by the Yogi Adityanath government. Maurya had joined the BJP in the run up to the state elections in 2017 after a long stint in the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
