Storm Hits Prayagraj, Pratapgarh and Kaushambi Hard: Six Killed, Dozens Injured

Lucknow, May 29 (TNA) A violent storm with thunder, lightning and heavy rain struck on the night of May 28, disrupting life across Prayagraj, Pratapgarh and Kaushambi. The severe weather left half a dozen people dead, including a mother and her son, and many others injured.

Hundreds of trees were uprooted at multiple locations, and tin-roofed houses were blown away. Several mud houses collapsed. Electric poles snapped, cutting power supplies and bringing many areas to a standstill. Roads were blocked in places by fallen trees and debris, leaving communities isolated until clearance work begins.

Pratapgarh and Kaushambi experienced particularly intense thunderstorms late Thursday night, during which hundreds of trees and power poles were torn out from their roots, and a number of earthen houses caved in. Residents rushed out of their homes in panic. Administrative teams from all three districts are surveying the affected areas and assessing the damage.
