Samajwadi Party Likely To Release First List of 40 Names Today

Lucknow, January 12 (TNA) Amid hectic political activity, the first list of Samajwadi Party (SP) candidates for the forthcoming state assembly elections is likely to be released sometime on Wednesday. Sources said the screening committee of the party met on Teusday and deliberated on some 50 probables. The meeting was presided over by the party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Elections are to be held in 7 phases in Uttar Pradesh, with the first phase to be held on February 10. 58 seats are included in the first phase and 55 seats in the second phase. In such a situation, all the political parties have started brainstorming on the names of their candidates.

SP has alliances with many smaller parties including Rashtriya Lok Dal, Mahan Dal, Progressive Samajwadi Party, People's Party, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party.
