Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav Detained In Lucknow

Lucknow, December 7 (TNA) Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav was on Monday afternoon detained by the UP Police and sent to Eco Garden in the state capital. The 47-year-old was picked up by the police when he was making way to Kannauj from where his party is launching a statewide Kisan Yatra against the farming laws brought by the government of India.

As soon as his cavalcade came out of his bungalow, a heavy continent of police intercepted him and told him that he was not allowed to proceed. The former chief minister of UP fretted and fumed but the police paid no heed and packed him along with his supporters inn aiming vehicles which were sent to the Eco Garden.

Talking to reporters, Yadav slammed the BJP government in the state of targeting the opposition. "When their leaders step out in large processions, hold rallies there is no problem, but when we do, we are detained citing prohibitory ordered due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic" he said.
