Sajan Mishra To Perform At Classical Evening In Lucknow On Saturday To Mark Centenary Of Lawyer Siddha Nath Pandey

Lucknow, July 23 (TNA) A musical evening is being organised in the state capital on Saturday to commemorate the 100th anniversary of eminent Etawah lawyer and a classical singer himself, Pt Siddha Nath Pandey. The event is being held at the Kala Mandapam Auditorium, infront of the Bhatkhande, Qiaserbagh.

Organiser Alok Pandey informed TNA that the programme - Sangeet Shashtriya Sammelan, will begin at 6:15 pm and will have performances by Padmabhushan Pandit Sajan Mishra, Tabla by Arvind Kumar Azad and singing by Pandit Swaransh Mishra. Pankaj Tripathi, Regional General Manager of the Indian Bank is the chief guest of the event.

Siddha Nath Pandey was born on July 30, 1923 in Amrawati, Maharashtra. He, other than being an eminent lawyer, was an exponent in classical music and was trained in Sitar as well, his eldest son Alok informed. He passed away on October 2, 2020 at the ripe age of 98 years.

SN Pandey was instrumental in organizing succesful classical evenings in the annual fair in Etawah where many legends like Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Pandit Omkar Nath Thakur, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Jasraj, Ustad Vilayat Khan, Gudai Maharaj and others performed. “To mark his centenary there couldn’t have been a better way to remember and honour my father” Alok says.
