Retired Police Inspector Kills Cancer-Stricken Wife In Shikohabad, Then Shoots Himself; Both Dead
Shikohabad, June 13 (TNA) A devastating double death has left the entire district of Shikohabad in shock after a retired sub-inspector shot his cancer-stricken wife and then himself late Saturday night, according to police.
Rakesh Yadav (70), a retired sub-inspector of Uttar Pradesh Police and son of former Congress MLA Jagdish Yadav, allegedly killed his wife, Murti Yadav (68), with a licensed revolver before shooting himself at their home near Subhash Chauraha.
Police stated that Murti Yadav had been battling cancer for a long time and was undergoing treatment. The prolonged pain from her illness, combined with difficult family circumstances, had severely affected Rakesh Yadav’s mental health.
Late Saturday night, family members and neighbours rushed to the house after hearing gunshots. They found the husband and wife lying lifeless, covered in blood. Both were immediately transported to a hospital. Doctors declared Rakesh Yadav dead on arrival.
Murti Yadav, critically injured, was sent to the Trauma Centre in Firozabad for emergency treatment, but medical efforts could not save her, and she also passed away.
