Poll Panel Issues Strict Guidelines For UP Civic Body Polls, Bans Use Of Plastic And Polythene In Campaign

Lucknow, April 11 (TNA) The State Election Commission has set strict guidelines for the upcoming civic body polls and has given instructions of ban on use of plastic, polythene in election campaign. In the election campaign, posters and banners are put up on a grand scale. Many times candidates get posters, banners made of polythene or plastic printed because they are cheap and durable too. On the other hand, single use plastic and polythene has already been banned in the state.

Along with this, there will be a complete ban on carrying an effigy of anyone, torching it up and the police and administrative teams will keep an eye on this. No use of government aircraft and vehicles is also not allowed. The Commission has given instructions in this regard and said that in particular the Ministers shall not link their official tours with the election campaign.
