PM Modi Flying Down To Lucknow To Pay Last Respects To Kalyan Singh

Lucknow, August 22 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is flying down to Lucknow on Sunday noon to pay his last respects to 89-year-old former UP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, who passed away late on Saturday at the SGPGI.

He will go straight to the Mall Avenue residence of the party stalwart. Mortal remains of the former Rajasthan governor will be kept at his residence till 11 am after which they will be taken to the Vidhan Sabha, where Singh served nine terms as a legislator.

Allowing lawmakers and officials to pay their last respects in the Vidhan Sabha, the body of Singh will be then taken to the state BJP headquarters where they will be kept till 2:30 pm for party colleagues and workers to pay their tributes.

The body will then be taken to the airport from where it will be flown in a special plane to Aligarh, his native place. The last rites of Kalyan Singh will be conducted at Narora, on the banks of river Ganga on Monday.

The state government has declared a three-day mourning in the state and a public holiday on Monday. The ruling BJP has also cancelled all its programmes and engagements for the next few days as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
