One Injured In Firing Among Candidates In Gorakhpur As Ist Phase Of Panchayat Polls Underway In UP

Lucknow, April 15 (TNA) Violence has been reported from a village in Gorakhpur during the first phase of balloting in the UP Panchayat elections.

During a tussle between rival candidates for the post of village chief, firing happened on Thursday morning at the Mahuadabar village, falling under the Khajni police station.

In the firing from both sides, a candidate was injured and he has been admitted at the BRD medical college where his condition is stable. Police informed that the accused candidate of Pradhan has since been arrested.
