Major Reshuffle in UP Police: 28 IPS Officers Transferred, Key Posts Reassigned

Lucknow, September 08 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major reshuffle in the state police administration, transferring and reassigning 28 IPS officers to new postings across the state. The move aims to strengthen law and order, improve efficiency, and bring fresh leadership into critical roles.

As per the official order, senior officer Rajeev Sabharwal (IPS, 1993 batch) has been given the additional charge of Director General/Additional Director General at Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Police Academy, Moradabad. A. Satish Gagesh (IPS, 1996 batch) has been posted as ADG, PTS Moradabad, while K. Satyanarayan (IPS, 1998 batch) will serve as ADG, Traffic & Road Safety, Lucknow. Modak Rajesh D. Rao (IPS, 2003 batch) has been appointed IG, CID Headquarters, Lucknow.

Among other key appointments, Dr. Meenakshi Katyayan (IPS, 2014 batch) has been posted as SP, Regional Intelligence, Kanpur Nagar, while Shri Shubham Patel (IPS, 2016 batch) takes over as SP, Law & Order, at DGP Headquarters, Lucknow. Chandrakant Meena (IPS, 2018 batch) is now SP, Regional Intelligence, Gorakhpur. Rohan Jha (IPS, 2021 batch) has been appointed ASP, Cyber Crime, Lucknow.

Several PAC units have also seen changes, with officers like Sanand Singh Yadav and Pankaj Kumar Pandey taking over as Commandants in Fatehpur and Varanasi, respectively.

This large-scale reshuffle reflects the state government’s strategy to infuse dynamism into the police force, ensure better coordination, and tighten security arrangements ahead of upcoming administrative priorities.
