Mafia Don-Turned-Politician Atique Ahmed's Wife Joins AIMIM

Lucknow, Sep 7 (TNA) Wife of don-turned-politician Atique Ahmed, Shaista Parveen, joined the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), in presence of its chief Asaduddin Owaisi. AIMIM will be contesting the state assembly polls slated for early next year.

Atique, currently in prison, had successfully contested the assembly elections five times and has been an MP once in 2004 and he was in the Samajwadi Party twice.

The Yogi Adityanath-led state government has been hammer and tongs after the don and many of his properties worth crores have bene razed to the ground, leaving him with little political leverage that he once had over the political landscape of the state.
