Killers Of Atiq-Ashraf Sent To Four Days Police Custody, SHO Shahganj Among Five Cops Suspended

Prayagraj, April 19 (TNA) The three killers of don brothers Atique and Ashraf Ahmed were prodiced before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) in Prayagraj amid watertight security. After hearing, the trio were sent to a four-day police custody.

The police though had sought a seven-day custody from the court to interrogate the killers and to go to the bottom of the in-camera killings that shook the nation last weekend.

These three youth - Lovelesh Tiwari, Sunny Singh and Arun Maurya, had shot gangster-turned-politician Atique and his brother Ashraf outside the Colvin hospital where they were being taken for medical examination in police custody on Saturday.

Police has prepared an exhaustive questionnaire of 100 posers. Sources said most of these questions pertains to acquisition of the murder weapons, their movement prior to the double murder and also to recreate the crime scene.

In a related development, five policemen including the SHO of Shahganj, Ashwini Kumar Singh have also been suspended for dereliction in duty. The special investigation team (SIT) which had been constituted by the Prayagraj Police to probe the killings had questioned them on Tuesday night.
