In Tussle With Police On Way To Hathras, Rahul Gandhi Falls To The Ground

NOIDA || In what could snowball into a big political issue, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi was pushed by the UP police on Thursday on his way to Hathras, after which he fell down. He was immediately picked up by the security personnel who were escorting him.

Angry Congress workers shouted anti-government slogans soon after and the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Ajay Kumar Lallu shouted on the police officials present asking them how dare they push their leader like this.

The Gandhis lion along with his sister and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and hundreds of party workers were stopped from marching on the Delhi-Noida highway on their way to Hathras to meet the family of the gang rape victim who died on Tuesday.

When police official present was asked by Rahul Gandhi on why he was being prevented by them and under which law. He was told that prohibitory orders had been clamped in the area and that they cannot be allowed to move further. When he insisted that he go alone, he was denied that permission as well.

TV grabs showed the Congress MP being pushed and shoved as he tried to resist the police. Priyanka Gandhi alleged that she was also pushed and there were attempts to throw her to the ground.

Several national and regional leaders including Sharad Pawar and Tejaswi Yadav have come out in the support of the Gandhi's and condemned the police action against opposition leaders.
