IAS Officer Sushil Kumar Maurya Dies Of COVID In UP, Chief Secretary Mourns Demise

Maurya hailed from Jaunpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh. During his career, he was posted in Ballia, Mainpuri, Sultanpur, Ghazipur.

LUCKNOW || The deadly march of Coronavirus continues in UP and on Monday it claimed a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Sushil Kumar Maurya. He had been admitted to the SGPGI in the state capital since August 27 after he developed symptoms of COVID.

He was 53 and had been kept in an isolation ward but when his condition worsened he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where he passed away on Monday morning.

The deceased officer was posted as special secretary in the Bhasha department and before this was the district magistrate of Basti. He was a direct PCS of the 1994 batch and was promoted as an IAS in 2010. Maurya hailed from Jaunpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh. During his career, he was posted in Ballia, Mainpuri, Sultanpur, Ghazipur.

UP Chief Secretary RK Tiwari mourned his demise and recalled him as a suave and able officer. His services for the state and its people will always be remembered, the top bureaucrat said.
