Hectic Preparations By UPMRC For Proposed Commercial Launch Of Kanpur Metro By PM Modi On December 28

Kanpur, December 16 (TNA) Hectic preparations are underway by UP Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) officials over the proposed visit of prime minister Narendra Modi on December 28.

The PM is proposed to inaugurate the proposed commercial run of Kanpur Metro. Managing Director of the UPMRC, Kumar Keshav on Thursday visited the Metro station to oversee the preparations.

Before the PM’s visit, the CMRS is to visit Kanpur between December 20-22 to see the security and safety measures of the Kanpur Metro Rail. The priority corridor of the ambitious Kanpur Metro Rail project was inaugurated on November 15 by UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath. However the commercial run is to start with the flagging off by PM modi on December 28.

The priority corridor is a 9-km stretch between IIT-Kanpur and Motijheel and was completed in a short span of two years. What is remarkable is that work on this stretch was completed despite the Covind pandemic which brought all good things to a grinding halt around the world for most of 2020 and 2021.
