Hathras Incident: Decks Cleared For CBI Probe As DOPT Issues Notification

LUCKNOW || Decks have been cleared for the start of a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the Hathras incident. This, as the Department of Personnel and Training has issued a notification to conduct a CBI investigation of the Hathras incident on the recommendation of the state government.

CBI will now soon start its investigation by registering a case in this matter. The state government had decided to recommended a CBI probe on October 3, the very next day the state Home Department sent a recommendation for a CBI inquiry to the central government.

The decision was taken by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after getting the first report of the SIT constituted under the chairmanship of Secretary Home Bhagwan Swaroop to investigate the Hathras incident. Along with this, five policemen including Hathras SP Vikrant Veer and the then CO Ram word were suspended.

The SIT registered under the chairmanship of Secretary Home is still being investigated for the Hathras incident. The government has given him an additional 10 days to complete the investigation. The SIT can now submit its investigation report to the government even before the CBI probe begins.

Officials at the CBI headquarters in Delhi have confirmed receiving a notification regarding the investigation into the Hathras incident. After which CBI has started the process of investigation.

The case is set to be handed over to the CBI's Ghaziabad unit. A team of CBI can also reach Hathras soon. CBI will first get the facts related to the investigation of police and SIT.
