Lucknow, February 27 (TNA) A shocking incident unfolded in Lucknow’s Aashiana area when a government employee, Ram Sagar Yadav, held his family hostage. Yadav, employed as a lineman in the Secretariat, locked his wife Ramkali, daughter, and son inside a room and began performing a fire ritual (havan).

Family members noticed smoke coming from the room and alerted the police. Upon arrival, Ashiyana Inspector Chhatrapal Singh attempted to open the door but found the house locked from both levels. Fire brigade personnel were called for assistance.

As police tried to intervene, Yadav climbed to the third-floor rooftop with an iron rod, threatening harm to anyone who approached. While the inspector engaged him in conversation, other officers accessed the rooftop through a neighbor’s house and subdued him.

Police revealed that Yadav had been behaving strangely, performing unusual rituals and smearing ash on his body. He has been sent for a mental health evaluation.
